Doom Flamingo: New Album Due Soon, Lots of Shows on Tap … – Music Fest News

There is a lot of great music ahead for Doom Flamingo, beginning with three shows with Umphrey’s McGee on their XXV tour celebrating 25 years! They will hit Fort Wayne, Grand Rapids, and Detroit on this swing. Then Doom and UM jump on Jam Cruise 19 sailing out of Miami. When they return, Doom play a pair at Charleston Pour House. In March they have two shows with Jive Talk — in Charlotte and Nashville.
Doom will also team up with BIG Something for three dates at the beginning of April in D.C., Brooklyn, and Philadelphia. And the festival calendar is just beginning to fill in with appearances already scheduled at Rooster Walk, Summer Camp, and Northlands.
They played a smashing set at North Beach Music Festival in December. At the time, we wrote:

There may be a few other bands who play a mix of music similar to Doom Flamingo, but it’s a guarantee that nobody does it nearly as well as they do. From blistering metal and synthwave to gorgeous R&B and soul, Doom are just incredible. The band is absolutely killer, and Kanika Moore is… well, she is a true force of nature, dancing, gyrating, head-banging, and soaring vocally.
Ross Bogan was layering synths on top of vocals on “Evil” before the band dialed it back a notch for “Along For the Ride.” Then came the all-out sensory overload of “Blade.” In the midst of the metal surge, Bogan had a piano solo before returning to synths, Moore’s voice propped atop Thomas Kenney’s searing guitar. Ryan Stasik and Sean Bing (bass and drums) were CRUSHING.
In an about-face, “Love On Hold” was a fine disco-infused tune that featured a great tenor sax solo by Mike Quinn. In another u-turn, “Replicant” was a solid metal shred. Funk-metal, power pop: they tear it all up. And Moore offered a new way of evoking the crowd: “This is where you’re supposed to SCREAM!”

While you’re waiting for Peaches & Bobbi, the debut studio album from Doom Flamingo, slated for release February 10, enjoy this live album In the Rain the band dropped last October.
